Patrick Bet-David is an Iranian-American entrepreneur and financial advisor. He is the author of many books including "Your next Five Moves". 

Patrick owns a YouTube channel called "Valuetainment" that offers business advice to entrepreneurs.   


Summary

Move 1: Knowing yourself

No matter what you want to do, the first move has to be to get to know yourself. Self-awareness is the key to success. You have to find out what matters to you. Keep asking question to yourself to get to know more about what really matters to you in life. The answer may not come immediately but there is process to understand yourself.  Once you know truly that what matters to you then you can make your own commitment and visions. 

It is important to decide what exactly you want. If you do not love what you do, it is very likely that you may quit along the way. One way of finding out what you want to do is to make a list.   


Move 2: Reasoning powers

Your second move should be to learn how to process issues. Issues could be anything like - your best employee is going to leave the organisation, market crashes etc. So you have to be calm and see the world with very clear mind and unclouded emotions, in order to make sound decisions. 

The most important part of processing an issue or problem is taking full responsibility for it. This allows you to regain control of the problem and move forward. 


Move 3: Build a team

Before building a team, ask one question to yourself. 

"Why would someone work with me?"

You have to convince people to want to work with you. You need to plan some benefit programs to motivate people to come and join your organisations. 

Also, recruiting is not one time process. Even if you have hired very talented and smart people, you will need to constantly re-recruit them, otherwise some other company will hire. 


Move 4: Strategise

No matter at what stage your company is in, you have to plane to capitalise on it. Think on how to raise funds to get going? Learn how to network.

And, most important, you can only grow exponentially if you can develop others into effective leaders.  


Move 5: Power plays 

You will always have competitors for your company and how you deal with them is up to you. 

You have to be ready to win the war. It is ok to loose some battles in order to win the war.

Learn about yourself and know what you exactly want in life. Have the courage to peruse your dreams.
